*THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD*

*1Samuel 10:6 (CEV), Micah 3:8a, 2Corinthians 3:18*

*“The Spirit of the LORD will suddenly take control of you. You’ll become a different person and start prophesying right along with them”. *But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD,…*But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.* 

One of the ways the Holy Spirit is described in the Bible is by the term ‘the Spirit of the Lord.’ This name is specifically used to reflect how the Holy Spirit can divinely manifest the sovereign leadership of God or the dominion and Lordship of God over a person, group of people or a situation. One of the ways He does this is by anointing and empowering us to function at supernatural frequencies and capacities to overcome human limitations and do God’s will.

In some places where the term ‘the hand of the Lord’ is used in the Bible, it refers to the Spirit of the Lord in action. 1 Kings 18:46 (AMP) says, “Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah [giving him supernatural strength]. He girded up his loins and outran Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel [nearly twenty miles].” Ezekiel 3:14 says, “So the spirit lifted me, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me. 

In our first text above, Saul was turned into another man and he began to prophesy because the Spirit of the Lord came upon him and took control of him. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, He causes you to function in the capacity of the real man or woman that you are in Christ. He empowers us to operate and function just like Christ.

Father, I thank you for the mighty power of your Spirit that is available to empower me to know and do your will today.
