THE GAME CHANGER SENATOR JOEL-ONOWAKPO THOMAS

Delta State was created on August 27, 1991, due to the return to democratic rule, Delta State has witnessed incremental political, social, and economic gains.

However, there are certain senatorial districts that has suffered neglect, lack of human capacity development, environmental degradation, lack of effective representation, lack of people oriented projects and promises made during campaigns that were not fulfilled, one of which is Delta South Senatorial District.

Delta South senatorial district comprises of eight (8) local government areas, they include Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North, Isoko South, Patani, Warri North, Warri South and Warri South West. The headquarters (collation centre) of Delta South is Isoko South Local Government.

Since return to democratic system of government, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has been representing Delta South in the National Assembly with little or no effective representation in the eight local government areas of the State making up the Delta South Senatorial district.

THE GAME CHANGER’S ACHIEVEMENTS IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS IN OFFICE

With the emergence of Senator Joel-Onwakpo Thomas under the platform of the All Progressive Congress APC, as the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District in the tenth National Assembly, the senatorial district has witnessed tremendous developments in the areas:

A. Education – due to JOT’s love for education, he sponsored the Federal School of Nursing & Midwifery, Patani, Delta State (Establishment) Bill 2024. The Bill, with serial number SB635, passed its first reading on the floor of the National Assembly on Thursday, 31 October 2024, in the Senate.

Fondly called Sen. JOT, the essence of this professional institution will be for the overall benefit of our people.

B. Support Creation of Anioma State

The senator representing Delta South senatorial district, JOT have supported the bill sponsored by his colleague Sen Ned Nwoko for the creation of Anioma State in the ongoing constitutional amendment.

The creation of the Anioma State will no doubt resolve the imbalance of States in South East geo political zone.

C. OLOU PRIMARY SCHOOL ROAD COMPLETED

The lack of access road to link Olou Primary School, especially the rainy season, Distinguish Sen Joel-Onwakpo Thomas has completed Olou Primary School Road in Bomadi LGA under Delta South senatorial district, to enhance easy access to the school.

D. Renovation and Equipping of Emede Primary Health Care Centre, Isoko South LGA, Delta State.

E. Construction of 1 Block of 2 Classrooms in Emede Grammar School, Delta South Senatorial District.

F. Facilitated Peace Training and Empowerment for 260 Constituents across Delta South Senatorial District.

G. Due to his love for God and humanity, Sen Joel-Onwakpo Chaired the first session of the 9th synod of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Oleh – presentation and launching.

H. Supply and Installation of All-In-One Solar Street Lights in Patani Local Government Area. The areas covered includes: Commissioner’s Road, Okruware, Patani, Hudson Zua Road, Ekise, Patani, Marine Link Road, Ekise, Patani and Marine Road by Court premises, Government Waterside while other communities will benefit in the next phase of constituency projects.

I. Due to his love for human capacity development and the role of media in projecting his activities and programmes, Senator Joel Onowakpo has appointed over 80 media aides to showcase his programmes.

J. Oversight visit to warri refinery to ascertain the level of work done at the refinery.

K. Condemning killing of 16 soldiers in Okuama community, Delta state

L . Sponsored the Bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Fisheries and Aquatic Studies, Emede, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State. The Bill passed through first reading as “Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act (Amendment) Bill 2023”

M . Sponsored a bill to establish an ICT Institute in Ode-Itsekiri, Delta State.

And many other meaningful projects sighted in some strategies places across Delta south Senatorial District, truly Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas is an angel to the people of Delta south Senatorial District.
