I’m really glad one Labour Party lawmaker is speaking up.

Here are a few things Senator Ireti Kingibe said on Channels TV, a few minutes ago:

1. Nigeria needs less ministers, not more. Faulted the proposed number while agreeing that it is the Executive’s prerogative to decide.

2. Believes the ministerial nominees are recycled politicians, not an impressive bunch.

3. El-Rufai, Okotete and Abubakar are not YET to be confirmed pending their security brief.

4. Labour Party & other lawmakers not allowed to speak unless Akpabio gives the mic (this is why I personally called for more media appearances where LP lawmakers can give their opinions and exert some pressure).

5. Govt needs to make more sacrifices, not expect the people to be patient.

6. “Take a bow” is the Senate’s convention and she believes it should not be so. People should be scrutinized. (Hope you canvass for a change in this, ma’am).

7. Majority will always have their way, while the minority will have their say.

8. Promised to tighten her belt, and make personal sacrifices.

9. Asked for a few more months for Labour Party senators to make a difference.

10. Senators earn too much money, which she believes should be reduced, however, she has not received Akpabio’s prayers (money) but excesses are used to help her constituency.

Lastly, she said she had a fall along the corridors of the Senate after someone poured something on the floor. She twisted their ankles.
I wish her a speedy recovery. (Seems there’s inadequate enforcement of safety standards, even in the NASS cos there should have been caution signs made visible).
