The percentage of men who experience andropause varies depending on age and other factors, but here’s some information:
Men over 40: A study in Massachusetts found that 481,000 men between the ages of 40 and 69 experience andropause each year, which is a crude incidence rate of 12.3 per 1,000 person-years.
Men over 60: According to the American Urological Association, about 2 in 10 men over the age of 60 have low testosterone levels.
Men over 80: Nearly half of men over the age of 80 have low testosterone.
Men in their 50s: Around 30% of men in their 50s experience symptoms of andropause.
Andropause, also known as male menopause, is a gradual decrease in testosterone levels that can cause a variety of physical, sexual, and psychological symptoms. However, not all men experience a significant drop in testosterone levels as they age. Some factors that can make symptoms worse or happen earlier include diabetes, smoking, alcohol use, stress, anxiety, and depression.
