THE ROYAL GOAT

Chapter 2

Right in the forest where Adaugo was tied to a tree, she kept shouting and crying for help but her voice sounded like a goat’s.
A certain lion that was so hungry and looking for prey heard her voice which sounded like a goat’s and started searching for it.

It wasn’t long before he located the beautiful wild goat and roared in satisfaction. He quickly hurried to t£ar and d£vour the delicious-looking goat.

Adaugo was so afraid that she trembled in fear.
“Is this how I’m going to di£?” She wondered fearfully as the giant Lion walked closer wagging his tail and licking his lips.

But as he was approaching, another hungry lion came out and claimed ownership of the goat.

“I saw it first, so back off !”
The first lion roared angrily.

” Not so, but you’ll have to win a duel .”The other lion challenged.

So the two Lions engaged in a serious duel which lasted for about an hour and a half. The fight ended when the second lion accepted defeat and ran away.
The first lion roared happily and approached the Innocent shivering goat.

But as he was going, a hyena that was also in search of prey saw the lion trying to eat the goat and also went closer.

“Share with me.” The hyena said to the lion.

” Not so, it won’t be enough for me. “The lion roared.

” After eating this, we hunt another. “The hyena suggested.

” No! Back off or I make you my first lunch. “The lion roared.

” And what if I make you mine? “t
The hyena challenged.

With this, the lion and the hyena engaged in a heated duel, contesting for the beautiful white goat.
Now, it happened that in those days, the dog was still a wild animal. One dog was also hungry and looking for prey when he noticed the beautiful white goat tied to a tree, the lion, and the hyena fighting seriously.
He pitied the goat and wanted to help her escape.
So he sneaked to where the goat was tied and used his teeth to cut the rope.

“Follow me.” He whispered to the goat and walked sneakingly.

When they had gotten far enough that their footsteps could neither be heard by the lion nor the hyena. The dog told the goat to run after him.

So they took to their heels and raced till they arrived at the dog’s tent.
The dog quickly took the goat inside his tent and hid her there.

“She is miss goat, I rescued her from the hyena and lion.” The dog explained to his family when they asked who she was.

The dog that rescued Adaugo was a boy that lived with his parents and 2 sisters.

“Son, See me at the inner tent,”
The dog’s father said to him and left.

“What have you done?” His father questioned with fear. “Do you realize the gravity of what you just did? why would you rescue a prey from hyena and lion knowing they’re among the deadliest beings in this kingdom? Soon, they will come for us and d£stroy our generation.”

The dog was confused and afraid to hear all those from his father.
“I never thought of it this way.”
He confessed fearfully. “So what should I do now?”

“You know what to do.” His father answered.
“Father, if it is taking her back to them, I can’t do it.”

“Why?” His father yelled but in whispers. “Do you prefer the life of an ordinary she-goat to that of your entire generation?”

” Father, it’s not like that, just that she is wearing a royal bead which means she is of a royal family and you know it’s taboo to k¡ll such. ”

Meanwhile, the lion and the hyena were still dueling for the beautiful white goat. At a point, they got tired and decided to share the prey at least to regain their exhausted strength. But at the tree where the goat was tied. They only saw a rope tied to the tree and there was no goat.

“Nooooo!” the lion roared angrily.

“What a disappointment, only if you had listened and shared with me. All these wouldn’t have happened .” Hyena blamed the Lion.

“It’s all your fault!” Lion roared back.”If you hadn’t come here, I would have enjoyed my meal in peace.”

” Whoever did this must pay with his/her entire generation. “Lion swore.

“And how are you going to see the person that did it? “Hyena asked.

” Once I smell this rope, I will be able to know who did it,” Lion explained.
“Really?”Hyena laughed surprisedly.

“Watch and see !” Lion went closer and inhaled the rope with his nostril. “I thought as much, Dog is behind this.” Lion exhaled smirkingly.

“Sure?” The hyena laughed unbelievably.

“They will surely hear from me. I shall stop at nothing till I see that non of them is left in this kingdom.” Lion vowed.

” And How will you go about it? “Hyena asked.

” We (Lions) are ruling. So I can do whatever I want.” Lion bragged.

Early in the morning the next day. The lion having colluded with the hyena and teamed up with all the bad and dangerous animals in the animal kingdom had divided themselves and were waiting at the doorposts of all tents owned by dogs in the entire animal kingdom.

The plan was that once the lion roared. They would attack.
And so it was that when the lion roared. The whole bad guys rushed into the tents owned by dogs to attack them and bring out the Royal Goat.
